As a Real Estate Agent, you might be surprised to know that nearly 40% of homebuyers experience buyers’ remorse. In my opinion, this means that many agents are not doing all that they can to inform and empower their clients.
According to the California Association of REALTORS, 39% of people would have bought a differently sized home, a home in a different price range, or a home in a different location. What’s more, 22% of homebuyers wish they had known more about the process of closing on a house. 19% wish they had known more about how to make a good offer and negotiate. Finally, 15% wish they had been given more knowledge on how to finance a home.
Improved communication and working to prepare clients for the real estate process could greatly reduce the amount of confusion and buyers’ remorse that we see today. If you are a professional real estate expert, you should be working with your clients to ensure that they get the home they want, at a price they can afford, in a neighborhood that suits them.
Moreover, you should be letting them know how each step of the real estate process works and what they will be required to do. One simple way to do this is to maintain a website with blog articles that you share. These articles can work to tell your clients, and potential clients, what to expect while buying or selling a home. This also paints you as a real estate expert – which will draw more leads. If you can make informative videos, potential clients love these even more.
So think about it. If nearly 40% of people have buyers’ remorse – this means that you might not get as many referrals or repeat clients. Overall, improved communication and sharing of real estate knowledge will prepare your clients for everything that buying or selling a home can involve.
